Protect Your Turbocharged Engine with the BD Cool Down Timer!
Switching your engine off after a heavy haul when the exhaust temperature (EGT) is above normal can result in turbo bearing damage. With the engine stopped, there is no oil flow over the hot turbocharger wheel and bearing assembly, which causes burned oil residue (“coking”) and eventual turbo failure.
That’s the bad news. The good news is, you can prevent this from happening with the BD Cool Down Timer (CDT) or Cool Engine Shut Down (CES). Simply set the shut down temperature, lock the doors and walk away—the engine will shut down at the temperature you’ve specified.
The CDT works with any K-Type EGT probe commonly found in most analog pyrometer gauge kits. Simply wire it to an existing EGT probe, or install a new one.
The CES works in conjunction with BD’s own X-Monitor digital gauge package. The CES connects in-line between the X-Monitor control module and display, and also features an audible alarm to coincide with the X-Monitor’s visual alarm settings.
